Darrell died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at his home. He was born April 21, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico to Clarence and Virgie (Tarter) Mason. He married Billie Weaks in Lazbuddie on August 23, 1964.

Darrell was a lifetime member of the Lazbuddie community. He was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lazbuddie. His first love was stock showing and helping kids with their animals. Darrell enjoyed taking care of his sheep. He treasured time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Billie; his three sons, Sean Mason and his wife, Julie of Lazbuddie, Texas, Shane Mason and his wife, LeShea of Lazbuddie, Texas and Sheldon Mason and his wife, Debbie of Lazbuddie, Texas; eight grandchildren, Ryan Mason, Suzanne Mason, Logan Mason, Jordan Stancell, Austin Mason, Ashton Mason, Ryelan Mason and Branson Mason; and three great-grandchildren, Shayla White, Braylee Jo Mason and Ryker Mason.
